Begin with the way you expect to use the yard
A pool should support your real week, not merely photograph well. During a showing, stand where people would enter from the house, supervise swimmers, carry food, store towels, and move equipment. Note shade at the hours you are most likely to swim, the distance to a bathroom, covered seating, privacy, gate placement, and whether the deck leaves useful space after furniture is added. A smaller, well-connected outdoor area can be more usable than a larger pool deck with awkward circulation.
